Frank Perez
Frank Perez was born in Mexico and spent the first four years of his life in Sinaloa. He immigrated to the United States as a young child and grew up in the Los Angeles communities of South Central and Huntington Park. He attended Huntington Park High School from 1985 to 1989. He went on to attend Cerritos College, then California State University in Long Beach and finally UCLA Law School. He graduated UCLA Law in 1999. Following law school he practiced Civil Rights and Personal Injury law in Montebello. He began his career in the middle of the LAPD Rampart Corruption Scandal and was able to represent many plaintiffs that were wrongfully arrested and often physically assaulted by police officers. He was also involved in cases against the County of Los Angeles for unlawful treatment of prisoners.
Mr. Perez opened his first law firm in 2003, and ever since he has handled catastrophic injury, sexual assault and police abuse cases. Mr. Perez is currently the lead trial attorney in his firm and his practice has grown over the years to include offices in Santa Ana and San Bernardino.
Mr. Perez has successfully litigated and tried dozens of construction and vehicular injury cases including cases involving buses, interstate carriers, and rideshare services. A large percentage of his practice revolves around construction site accidents, including instances where unlicensed contractor workers are denied benefits under the worker’s compensation laws. In these instances, Mr. Perez collaborates with our worker’s compensation partners to secure civil justice for our clients.
His firm also won a significant victory in the Court of Appeals in S.M. v. LAUSD wherein the Court held that a minor can no longer be blamed in his or her own molestation by Defendants like the LAUSD. After losing the case at trial due to a bad ruling, Mr. Perez’ firm successfully appealed the decision, reversed the trial court, and succeeded in turning a trial loss into a multi- million dollar settlement for the client.
Mr. Perez is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, the Mexican American Bar Association (MABA), and the Orange County Hispanic Bar Association. He has participated in oral advocacy training programs in Mexico, sponsored by the Jalisco Supreme Court. Mr. Perez proudly participated in ABOTA’s LAUSD Mock Trial Program where high school students from inner city schools were able to visit Stanley Mosk Courthouse in Los Angeles and witness a jury trial. Mr. Perez first attended the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer College Ranch in Wyoming, in 2016, and has been involved ever since as a student and most recently as faculty for Gerry Spence Method trainings.
