Judy Perez
Judy Perez was born in Los Angeles to immigrant parents from Colima and Jalisco. She was raised in Highland Park and attended Sacred Heart of Jesus High School in Lincoln Heights. She went on to attend UCLA and then Loyola Law School. She interned for El Rescate, MALDEF and Judge Teresa Sanchez-Gordon in Los Angeles Superior Court. After graduating from Loyola Law School in 2002, Ms. Perez entered private practice as an associate for the law firm of Moreno, Becerra, Guerrero & Casillas where she handled civil rights and personal injury cases. In 2006, she started the Law Offices of Judy Perez where she represented injured plaintiffs. In 2012, she began working with her partner, Frank Perez where she currently represents personal injury plaintiffs.
Throughout her legal career Ms. Perez has been very involved with the Mexican American Bar Association (“MABA”) for which she has served in various Board roles culminating with her Presidency in 2010. She has also served as Board Member and President for the Latina Lawyers Bar Association. Ms. Perez has also participated in various oral advocacy training programs in Mexico, sponsored by MABA as well as the Jalisco, Colima and Yucatan Supreme Courts. She has been the proud recipient of the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (“MAOF”) Community Hispanic Woman of the Year Award as well as the MABA Spirit Award. Most recently, Ms. Perez was the proud recipient of Sacred Heart of Jesus’ Mother Pia Backes Award. Ms. Perez finds fulfillment in life, not only by representing her clients but also by helping to open doors for the Latino Community, especially for young Latinas who share her story.
